Welcome to the Multnomah County Republican Party website.

Republicans are organizing political opposition to challenge Oregon’s one-party power monopoly. As we discovered in the 2010 Gubernatorial Race, Multnomah County holds the key to power for all of Oregon. Our charge as the GOP in Oregon's most populous county is to activate and motivate our volunteers to re-balance the power in Salem. All citizens should be concerned for the very survival of democracy in Oregon under the current regime. A vibrant two-party system is the heartbeat of the American checks-and-balances form of government.

We welcome curious Independents, disenfranchised Democrats, and all Republicans. We Republicans believe in freedom, responsibility, justice and prosperity for all. The silent majority is stirring. Join our movement.

Oregon Republican Party Announces Write In Candidates For Statewide Office

Submitted by Chairman Jeff R... on Tue, 05/01/2012 - 4:18am

The Oregon Republican Party has announced an aggressive plan to ensure that a Republican candidate is nominated for the positions of Oregon Attorney General and Treasurer.

After formal candidates were not recruited to file to run in the Primary Election, Oregon Republican Party Chairman Allen Alley expressed his strong opposition to allowing a Democrat candidate to repeat the actions of John Kroger, when he ran a write in campaign to secure both the Democrat AND Republican nominations for Attorney General in the 2008 election.

Chairman Alley appears to have been successful in his bid to recruit credible candidates to step up and run for these all important positions. In this Primary Election, the Oregon Republican Party is encouraging all GOP voters to write in James Buchal for Attorney General, and Thomas Cox for Treasurer.

This appears not to be a flash in the pan – the Oregon Republican Party has put its money where its mouth is, committing to mailing several thousand post cards to GOP voters across the state. Plus, each candidate has indicated a willingness to accept the position if nominated.

Here’s the official announcement from the ORP:

Ballots for the 2012 Oregon Primary are now arriving in mailboxes all over Oregon. As you know, no Oregon Republican filed for Attorney General or State Treasurer. In the past when this happened, the Democrat mounted a write-in campaign among Republican voters and gained both the Democrat AND Republican nomination.

WE CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN THIS YEAR!

A postcard is being sent to several thousand Republican primary voters in the state.  You can help by forwarding it to your email list to encourage other Republicans to join with us.

If we all work together, we can make sure Republicans are the nominees for our Party this Fall.

ACTION REQUESTED:

Republican Write-in Candidates

The following are Republicans for Attorney General and State Treasurer. You
will not find them on your May 2012 ballot. If you want Republicans on the
November general election ballot please write them in on your ballot now:

James Buchal for Attorney General:
1981 Harvard College BS in physics, 1985 Yale Law School and Yale School of
Management. James will uphold constitutional limits on government power and
restore accountability under law.

Thomas Cox for State Treasurer:
1986 University of Chicago BA Psychology. The State Treasurer needs to manage
state investments for the maximum benefit of the citizen taxpayers of Oregon not
special interests. No bailouts!

Authorized and paid for by the Oregon Republican Party. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.

PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS TO OTHER REPUBLICANS YOU KNOW.

YOUR ACTION TODAY WILL ASSURE THAT A REPUBLICAN GETS THE NOMINATION FOR THESE OFFICES!

(View the post card here)

[5440 note: Other campaigns have been mounted by third parties to write in candidates for Republican nominations for these positions. It appears as of this writing that those candidates HAVE NOT INDICATED AN INTEREST IN SERVING IN THIS POSITION. This does NOT include Suzanne Gallagher, who has independently mounted her own write in candidacy for the Republican nomination for Senate District 18.]

UPDATE: Upon reader request, I am including links to the candidates’ websites. Note that these links are to their personal business sites, as they have not yet launched campaign websites.

East Metro - Bipartisan Town Hall

Location:
Earl Boyles Elementary School, 10822 SE Bush Street, Portland OR
Time:
Sat, 02/04/2012 - 10:00am - 12:00pm

EAST METRO STATE REPRESENTATIVES TO HOST BIPARTISAN TOWN HALLS

Republican, Democratic Legislators to Hold Meetings in Happy Valley, East County

SALEM— State Representatives Patrick Sheehan (R-Clackamas), Greg Matthews (D-Gresham), Matt Wand (R-Troutdale) and Mike Schaufler (D-Happy Valley) will hold two bipartisan town halls in February to discuss the 2012 legislative session. The Republican and Democratic legislators say the town halls will give local residents a unique opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns.

“With the historic 30-30 tie in the Oregon House, citizens expect their Representatives to work together to heal the economy, educate our children and find ways to make health care delivery more affordable,” Rep. Sheehan said.  “We're excited to show the community how their east metro state representatives work collaboratively to put the people ahead of partisan politics.”

The first town hall will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 10:00 am to noon at Earl Boyles Elementary School, 10822 SE Bush Street in Portland.

The second town hall will be held on Saturday, February 11 from 10:00 am to noon at Happy Valley Elementary School at 13865 SE Kind Road in Happy Valley.

Both town halls are free to attend and open to the public.
